Taking The Leap: Freeing Ourselves From Old Habits and Fears
By- Pema Chodron

"Pema Chödrön shows us how to break free of destructive patterns in our lives and experience a new sense of freedom and happiness. Drawing on the Buddhist concept of shenpa, she helps us to see how certain habits of mind tend to “hook” us and get us stuck in states of anger, blame, self-hatred, and addiction. The good news is that once we start to see these patterns, we can begin to change our lives for the better. Pema helps us to take a bold leap toward a new way of living—one that will bring about positive transformation for ourselves and for our troubled world."

You Can Heal Your Life
By: Louise L. Hay

Her key message is: "If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed." The author has a great deal of experience and firsthand information to share about healing, including how she cured herself after being diagnosed with cancer.   An excerpt from You Can Heal Your Life:   "Life Is Really Very Simple. What We Give Out, We Get Back   What we think about ourselves becomes the truth for us. I believe that everyone, myself included, is responsible for everything in our lives, the best and the worst. Every thought we think is creating our future. Each one of us creates our experiences by our thoughts and our feelings. The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences."

The Diving Bell And The Butterfly
By: Jean- Dominique Bauby

If you want to feel better about your life and read about a man who is completely trapped inside his body but ends up writing THIS book with the blinks of his left eye then you should pick this book up. :) Absolutely beautiful and of course completely inspiring and makes you grateful for your life.

Closer To The Light- Learning from the near death experiences of children
By: Melvin Morse M.D.

The title explains itself really. It is all based on scientific studies and children's recollections of having out of body experiences right before death. So beautiful. Also check out Life After Life: Raymond A. Moody Jr. M.D. - this one is similar but about adult experiences.

Adrift: 76 Days Lost At Sea
By: Steven Callahan

Talk about putting your life into perspective.... A true story about about a man who survives in a small life raft in the Atlantic ocean for 76 days. He comes across every obstacle you can think of and his will to survive is incredible. I read this book in two days because I literally could not stop reading it! The pain and the suffering he goes through is something all of us who are sick can relate too.

One of my favorite books.
An amazing, bold, poetic, and unique read. A must have....
Summary:
Dozens of characters pass across the reader's sight lines—some never to be seen again—but James Frey lingers on a handful of LA's lost souls and captures the dramatic narrative of their lives: a bright, ambitious young Mexican-American woman who allows her future to be undone by a moment of searing humiliation; a supremely narcissistic action-movie star whose passion for the unattainable object of his affection nearly destroys him; a couple, both nineteen years old, who flee their suffocating hometown and struggle to survive on the fringes of the great city; and an aging Venice Beach alcoholic whose life is turned upside down when a meth-addled teenage girl shows up half-dead outside the restroom he calls home.
